BATON ROUGE — LSU took a hit in the polls this week following its triple-overtime loss to Arkansas as the Tigers slipped six spots to No. 7 in the latest Bowl Championship Series Standings, which were released on Sunday night.

LSU, which had spent the previous two weeks as the nation’s No. 1-ranked team, dropped to 10-2 overall with the 50-48 triple-overtime loss to unranked Arkansas. The Tigers will face 14th-ranked Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game on Saturday in Atlanta.

In the BCS Standings, the Tigers accumulated a .7744 average, which puts them behind No. 1 Missouri (.9781), No. 2 West Virginia (.9713), No. 3 Ohio State (.9192), No. 4 Georgia (.8274), No. 5 Kansas (.7918) and No. 6 Virginia Tech (.7811).

Southern Cal (.6926), Oklahoma (.6829) and Florida (.6184) round out the top 10 in this week’s BCS Standings.

LSU is ranked No. 5 in the Harris Interactive Poll and No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, both of which are part of the BCS formula. LSU is also No. 5 in the Associated Press Poll, which is not factored into the BCS equation.
