Randolph Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BATON ROUGE — LSU forward Anthony Randolph was named the SEC Freshman of the Week the conference office announced on Monday. The league honor is the first of his career.

Randolph helped LSU to a pair of wins over in-state foes Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese State last week as the Tigers’ opened the regular season with a 2-0 record.

In his collegiate debut against the Lions, Randolph was credited with a double-double as he contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds, in addition to six blocks and four steals.

For the week, Randolph was 12-of-20 from the field and averaged 15.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals a game. He currently ranks third in the conference in both rebounds and steals per game as well as 12th in field goal percentage (60.0%).

The Tigers return to action against Oklahoma State this afternoon at the Maui Invitational. Tip off is slated for 4 p.m. from Lahaina, Hawaii.
