Men's Golf 23rd in Golfweek Index

BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s golf team has gotten off to a fast start this season and is currently ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation in the updated Golfweek/Sagarin men’s performance index released Tuesday.

The Tigers are currently ranked No. 23 in the nation on the strength of their fourth-place finish in the season opener at the 2007 Scenic City Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Sept. 11.

The Southeastern Conference is making an argument to be the premier conference in college golf this season as the Tigers are joined in the Top 25 by No. 2 South Carolina, No. 4 Alabama, No. 6 Auburn, No. 10 Georgia, No. 12 Tennessee and No. 19 Florida.

The Tigers return to action in the Squire Creek Invitational at Squire Creek Country Club in Ruston, La., on Oct. 15-16. They are set to play three tournaments in the month of October as they will also tee off in the ClubGlove Intercollegiate in Somis, Calif., from Oct. 22-23 and the Bridgestone Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., from Oct. 29-30.
