LSU-Florida to Meet in Rare Primetime Contest on CBS

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s game against Florida on October 6 in Tiger Stadium will be televised in prime time on CBS, the Southeastern Conference announced on Monday.

Kickoff for the LSU-Florida game is scheduled for 7:28 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.

The LSU-Florida contest is the marquee matchup in college football that day as it pits the second-ranked Tigers against the fourth-ranked and defending national champion Gators.

It’s the first time that the Tigers will play a regular season home game in prime time on non-cable network television since 1981 when LSU hosted Alabama in a nationally televised night game on ABC. It will mark LSU’s first regular season appearance in prime time on CBS.

LSU beat Tennessee in a prime time CBS game in the 2001 SEC Championship contest and then followed that with another prime time win over Georgia in the 2003 league title game.

The Florida contest will mark LSU’s fifth nationally televised game this year.

The Tigers return to action this Saturday, traveling to face Tulane at 11 a.m. in a game televised nationally by ESPN2.

Other SEC games scheduled for television on Saturday, Oct. 6 include: Vanderbilt at Auburn at 11:30 a.m. on Lincoln Financial Sports; Georgia at Tennessee at 2:30 p.m. on CBS; and Thursday’s matchup between Kentucky at South Carolina at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
