Women's Golf Struggles on Day 2 in Tennessee

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The LSU women’s golf team struggled through the second round of the Mason Rudolph Women’s Golf Championships here Saturday and stand in 14th place at 25-over par 601 after 36 holes over the Vanderbilt Legends Course.

The Lady Tigers posted a 20-over par 308 on a windy second day as only one team, UCLA, managed to break par with a five-under 283 to stand in the lead by nine shots at 12-under par 563. Arizona State is second at 573, three ahead of three-time defending national championship team Duke at 576.

Junior Caroline Martens led the Lady Tigers on the second day with a 3-over 75 with freshmen Amalie Valle and Nicole Crochet at 76. The other LSU counter was Megan McChrystal at 9-over 81. Lindy LaBauve posted an 83. Valle is LSU’s 36-hole leader at 5-over 149 (tied for 36th). Martens and LaBauve are at 8-over 152, tied for 57th.

Amanda Blumenherst of Duke is the individual leader after a 4-under round of 68 Saturday after a 66 on Friday to stand at 10-under par 134. Anna Nordquist of Arizona State is at 8-under 136. First round leader Tiffany Joh is third at 139.
