Women's Tennis Has Busy Day 1 in Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS — The LSU women’s tennis team had a busy first day at the 2007 Gopher Invitational at the Baseline Tennis Center Friday.
“We played OK today,” Head Coach Tony Minnis said. “We need to have more match play experience, and this is a good opportunity to play in a tournament like this.”
After the tough start Robinson and Adamek each rebounded by winning consolation quarterfinal matches, and in both of those matches Robinson and Adamek needed super tiebreakers to win in three sets.
The Tigers experienced mixed results in doubles. The duo of Robinson and Mathis fell 8-4 to Jenni White and Sam Frank of Gustavus Adolphus, but Adamek and partner Dori Losonczy of Iowa State defeated Brittany Templin and Julie Bardenwerper of Gustavus Adolphus 8-5.
The tournament resumes Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with doubles action. Singles will begin at 1:30 p.m.
