TAF Sponsors Scholarship in Honor of Marquise Hill
BATON ROUGE — Over the Memorial Day weekend, the LSU family experienced a great loss with the passing of former Tiger and current New England Patriot Marquise Hill. Marquise was a beloved member of the Tiger family and the Tiger Athletic Foundation would like to keep his spirit alive by sponsoring a scholarship in his name.
The Tiger Athletic Foundation has received numerous requests from Tiger fans wishing to honor Marquise, thus TAF has pledged to make the first $25,000 donation to the Marquise Hill Memorial Scholarship, which amounts to 10 percent of a full endowed scholarship. The funds will be directed to the “Foundation of Champions” Scholarship Endowment Program that has recently been launched by TAF. The purpose of this program is to provide a perpetual source of financial support for athletic scholarships through a general scholarship endowment fund. The interest generated from the endowed scholarship will be used to offset the scholarship costs for current student-athletes. As costs for scholarships continue to climb, building a healthy endowment is vital to the future of LSU Athletics.
“Marquise was a huge man with an even bigger spirit. We hope that by starting this scholarship his name will forever be synonymous with LSU and its student-athletes,” said General Ron Richard, CEO of the Tiger Athletic Foundation.
Donors wishing to contribute to the scholarship fund may do so by contacting Ben Ross of the Tiger Athletic Foundation at 225/578-0617 or toll free at 1-800-644-4823. Donors will receive LSU Priority Points at a rate of 2 points per $1,000 for donations to the scholarship fund.
