BATON ROUGE — LSU senior Melissa Eaton was named the women’s Player of the Year in the state as selected on the all-Louisiana women’s collegiate golf team selected and announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen was named the state women’s Coach of the Year.
Joining Eaton on the women’s team were LSU teammates Rebecca Kuhn, Kim Meck and Alexis Rather, Angela Drane of Louisiana-Monroe and Freshman of the Year Tinna Johannsdottir of McNeese State.
Eaton led the Lady Tigers in scoring for the second straight year, posting a 75.4 average. She had two top 10 finishes and had six rounds of par or better. Bahnsen took her team to the NCAA Regionals for the 13th time in the past 15 years. LSU also had six top 10 finishes during the season.
Jose Toledo of UNO was the men’s player of the year. Toledo was also named the men’s newcomer of the year with Matthew Harvey of Louisiana Tech the men’s freshman of the year and Tim Baldwin of Southeastern Louisiana was the Coach of the Year for the men.
Chris Wells of LSU was named to the men’s first team, while Brian Noonan of LSU was named to the men’s second team.
