Temple Travels to China for Exhibition Games

BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s basketball guard Garrett Temple is presently in China playing in a series of exhibition games with an all-star team of college players.

Reach USA, a branch of Sports Reach, International, is in China through May 28. The team, made up of NCAA DI players, is being coached by Tom Schuberth, Head Coach of University of Texas at Pan America, and assisted by Auburn Assistant Bryan Bartley. The team flew into Beijing on May 16 and is expected to play eight total games throughout China.

Players for the team are: Mikhail Torrence and Demetrius Jemison of the University of Alabama; Paul Stoll, UT-Pan America; Garrett Temple, LSU; Quan Prowell & Rasheen Barrett, Auburn University; Brian Johnson, Mississippi St.; and Eddie Ard, Lipscomb.

Sports Reach is a Christian sports ministry that uses sports to share the Gospel throughout the world.

In the first game of the tour, the Reach USA Team defeated the Xia Jing Tigers, 74-60. The Tigers are from the Chinese Basketball Association’s top division. Prowell had 21 points to lead the Americans, while LSU’s Temple scored eight points, including two three-pointers with three assists.

The second game was also against the Tigers and Reach USA handily won, 91-62. Jemison’s 22 led Reach, while Temple in this game had seven points and one assist.
