Softball Signee Tosses Perfect Game for S.C. Title

KERSHAW, S.C. — LSU softball signee Casey Faile threw a perfect game in route to leading Andrew Jackson High School to a 10-0 run-rule victory over Bishop England to claim its second straight Class AA South Carolina Lower State title.

The Lady Volunteers improved to 32-3 on the season and will now advance to the best two-of-three Class AA state title series to face Chapman High School, champion of the South Carolina Upper State division. Last season, the Lady Vols earned the state title by winning the first two games of the championship series over Chapman.

This season’s series begins next Monday at Chapman High School. The second series game will be played next Wednesday at Andrew Jackson High School, and if necessary the final game will be played at a neutral site.

One of the top high school players in South Carolina, Faile struck out 13 in her perfect effort to improve to 28-3 on the season. In addition, she went 3-for-3 at the plate and ended the game in the sixth inning with a home run over the right center field fence. In the playoffs, Faile is 20-for-21 at the plate for an amazing .952 batting average.
