Soccer's Boudreau Named Top International Recruit

BATON ROUGE — Incoming freshman Taryne Boudreau continues to prove why she is one of the top international prospects to sign a National Letter of Intent with a Division I school in 2007 as she has been named a Top International Recruit by Soccer Buzz Magazine.

Boudreau, a midfielder from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, is one of 12 worldwide soccer recruits who have been recognized by the magazine for the Class of 2007.

She is arguably the No. 1 international recruit to sign with a Division I program this year as she has earned extensive international experience while competing as a member of Canada’s various youth national teams during her career.

Boudreau has represented her country as a member of the Under-20 Canadian National Team for more than a year as she earned a pair of starts against teams from Finland and Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championships in Moscow, Russia, this past summer.

She also helped lead the Canadian Olympic Development Team to the team title at this year’s 2007 Futbol Internacional Tournament in Alabama last weekend by scoring the third penalty kick goal in the tiebreaker to defeat the U-21 U.S. National Team by a margin of 0-0 (5-3) in the championship game on April 28 in Mobile.

In addition, Boudreau has been involved with Canada’s national development program for years as she has competed with the U-18, U-16 and U-15 national teams. She also appeared in seven international friendly matches in preparation for the World Championships against U-20 squads from such nations as Australia, China, Finland and Mexico.

Boudreau is set to make her collegiate debut on Aug. 31 as the Tigers open the season at home against Southern Miss in a match scheduled for 7 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex. The squad is slated to open SEC play at home against Mississippi State on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
