LSU's Jordan Suspended From Football Team

BATON ROUGE — LSU fullback Shawn Jordan has been suspended from the football team, coach Les Miles announced on Thursday.

Jordan was charged with possession of a controlled substance on Tuesday in his hometown of El Paso, Texas.

“This is a very serious matter to us,” Miles said. “We do everything we can as an institution to educate and inform our team about the dangers of drugs, in particular steroids. We have a comprehensive drug testing program in place and the NCAA comes in to test our athletes two or three times a year. While this is certainly an unfortunate incident, I’m confident that it’s isolated.

“We are going to do everything we can to help Shawn through this situation. However, he will be suspended from the team until we can gather all of the facts and get more information as to exactly what his involvement is.”

In two years with the Tigers, Jordan has appeared in two games, seeing action in wins over Arkansas State and Mississippi State in 2004.
