Tigers Back in Top 10, Await NCAA Bid
BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team bumped up two spots to No. 10 in the nation Tuesday when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its final poll before the NCAA hands out post-season bids.
The Tigers (19-8, 5-6 SEC) will learn their tournament fate Wednesday when selections are announced. The 16 highest-ranked teams in the country according to the NCAA will receive bids to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Championships.
LSU was ranked in the top-10 earlier in the season and has returned there after winning six of their last seven matches.
The Tigers are among eight Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the top 25. There are four in the top-10 alone, led by No. 3 Florida and No. 4 Ole Miss. Georgia is just ahead of LSU at No. 7. No. 11 Kentucky, No. 14 Tennessee, No. 21 South Carolina and No. 23 Mississippi State follow.
In singles, Skupski was ranked 36th and Growcott was 79th.
Bids for the 64-player singles bracket and 32-team doubles bracket will be handed out Thursday.
Both individual tournaments and the final rounds of the team tournament will be held in College Station, Texas at Texas A&M University.
