Tigers Look For Revenge Against Rival Nicholls State
BATON ROUGE — The LSU Women’s Soccer team (1-0) is set to take on the Nicholls State Lady Colonels (0-1) this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex. The Tigers are looking for revenge from last year when the Tigers lost a tough one to Nicholls State, 2-1.
“We have had this game on our calendars for a long time,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “Losing to them last year was very hard for us as a team and it broke us down. We have been looking to get them back on our field for a long time.”
Nicholls State scored two early goals and never looked back as the Tigers weren’t able to get anything going. This year the team is focused and looks to dominate.
“They are going to come in with a lot of confidence, and I hope we can step up and play the way we played against Southeastern La. and hopefully we can get the same results or maybe even better,” said Fotopoulos.
LSU is 19-1-2 against in-state competition since Fotopoulos’ arrival prior to 2000 season, including a win this season against Southeastern La.
The Tigers will play Tulane next Friday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex. The promotion for the Tulane game will be the “Crash the Wave” beach party.
