Wolfert to Receive Scholarship for 2004-05 Season
BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s basketball coach John Brady announced on Wednesday that junior forward Paul Wolfert would receive a scholarship for the upcoming 2004-05 season.
Wolfert, from Burr Ridge, Ill., is in his fourth year at LSU after coming to Baton Rouge from Hinsdale Central High School prior to the 2001-02 season. He was red shirted that season and has played both during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. More importantly, Wolfert, whose father Rick played basketball at LSU in the mid-1970s, has been an important part of LSU’s practice squads throughout his career.
“For this coming school year, we will place Paul (Wolfert) on scholarship at LSU,” said Coach Brady, entering his eighth year as the head coach at LSU. “Paul has proven himself as a student, improved himself as a basketball player, and his approach and attitude will make us a better team. This opportunity for Paul became available because we are under the limit of 13 scholarships allowed by the NCAA. We are excited for Paul and are looking forward to the season.”
Wolfert earned All-Academic All-SEC honors this past season. The Tiger players, along with the rest of the LSU student body, begin classes on Monday.
