Vanderpool Named Top International Recruit
BATON ROUGE — Freshman Caroline Vanderpool was named one of the top 20 international recruits of the 2004 NCAA recruiting class by Soccer Buzz magazine. Vanderpool, a midfielder from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Canada, will add depth to her position.
“Caroline is going to bring speed and the ability to attack out of the back,” said Co-Head Coach Danielle Fotopoulos.
Vanderpool is also a member of the U19 Canadian National Team and will miss some of the season to compete internationally. She was a silver medallist in the 2001 Canadian National Championships.
“Her experience playing at a high level is really going to help the team,” said Fotopoulos. “The fact that she is playing for the U19 Canadian Team will be very good for her.”
Vanderpool is one of the seven newcomers who signed in the 2004 recruiting class, which is ranked 12th in the central region by Soccer Buzz.
