Soccer Team Reports In Shape and Ready to Start Season
BATON ROUGE — The LSU Women’s Soccer team underwent their first day of fall practice Wednesday at the LSU Soccer Complex. The Tigers are out to improve on their 10-9-1 mark from last year when they went 2-7 in the SEC.
“The girls have prepared much better than in the years past,” said co-head coach Danielle Fotopoulos. “I feel very confident that we are going to have a good season, and I believe in the girls and their abilities.”
The coaches are excited about the upbeat attitudes of the players and the condition of the players coming into fall camp.
“I see a lot of improvement in every single person,” said Fotopoulos. “Michelle De Cespedes is looking good, and Suzanne Drake has made a great improvement. A lot of freshman have come in in-shape and are ready to go.”
The soccer team had 26 girls report Tuesday, and attended meetings with compliance and the academic center. The season opens at home Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. against Southeastern Louisiana.
