Shaquille O'Neal Golf Fundraiser Set For Sept. 3
BATON ROUGE — The second Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Golf Classic, presented by Our Lady of the Lake regional Medical Center, is set for Friday, Sept. 3 at 8 a.m. at Carter Plantation.
The format is a four-player golf scramble with team entry fee of $500. Those wishing to sponsor holes in the tournament may do so for $600 or $1,100 when taking advantage of hole sponsorship and a tournament foursome.
Each team will be served a jambalaya lunch after the round and every team will have their picture taken with Shaquille O’Neal, the former LSU basketball star, now of the Miami Heat of the NBA.
Awards will be given for net score, gross score, closest to the pin, longest drive and hole-in-one.
Designed to help student-athletes realize higher academic achievement, increased likelihood of retention, a higher level of maturity, self-responsibility, and greater overall success, the Shaquille O’Neal CHAMPS/Life Skills Program serves as a means to prepare student-athletes for life after college by focusing on five areas: academic excellence, athletic excellence, community service, personal development and career development.
The purpose of the event is to not only create more financial stability for the Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills program, but to continue to promote the outstanding efforts of our student-athletes, on and off the field.
For entry information, contact the Shaquille O’Neal CHAMPS/Life Skill office at 225-578-7402.
