Track and Field Adds Another Signee
BATON ROUGE — LSU’s national champion track and field team added a 15th member to its 2004 recruiting class announced head coach Dennis Shaver Monday, upon signing Rabun Fox of Houma.
“Rabun had been recruited by (former assistant) coach (Kent) Pagel for quite some time and we are pleased we were able bring him into the program,” said Shaver. “He is excellent student-athlete that we expect will be a solid contributor for us in the throwing events.”
Fox, a product of Vanderbilt Catholic High School, was a two-sport standout for the Terriers, participating in both track and football.
An All-America performer in the discus throw, Fox won three straight Louisiana state titles in the event. In addition he won the high school discus competition at the prestigious Penn Relays and finished fourth in the event at the Adidas National High School Championships.
On the football field, Fox was named the region’s offensive MVP and was an all-state selection at fullback after accumulating 1284 yards on 337 carries this past season.
Just as successful in the classroom, Fox was recognized as an A+ Athlete and a Scholar-Athlete by WWL and WDSU and was named to the All-State All-Academic football team.
Fox chose LSU over Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth and Stanford.
