Track and Field Throws Coach Kent Pagel Resigns

BATON ROUGE — LSU assistant track and field coach Kent Pagel has resigned in order to pursue other professional opportunities, he announced Thursday.

Pagel has worked with both the Tiger and Lady Tiger throwers each of past three seasons.

During his time at LSU, Pagel guided four of his athletes to NCAA appearances, and produced LSU’s first scorer in a throwing event at a national meet since the 1998 season.

In 2004, Lady Tigers Britney Henry and Katie McKeever each earned bids to the national championships under Pagel’s watch, while Maria Romero became the first LSU woman to win an individual SEC title in a throwing event in 10 years.

A search will begin immediately for a new throws coach at LSU.
