Stavinoha Named LSWA Hitter of the Week
BATON ROUGE — LSU designated hitter Nick Stavinoha was named the state’s Player of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Tuesday.
The junior from Houston helped lead the Tigers to a series win at Kentucky as he hit .583 (7-for-12) in three games with one double, one homer, four runs and four RBI. Stavinoha recorded a .917 slugging percentage and a .643 on-base percentage in the series. The DH’s two-run homer Saturday highlighted a three-run eighth inning to break an 8-8 tie and propel the Tigers to an 11-8 win.
Stavinoha has been LSU’s hottest hitter in recent games, batting .526 (10-for-19) in his last five contests with two doubles, one homer, seven RBI and four runs. Stavinoha has raised his cumulative average to .337 (57-for-169) with 11 doubles, one triple, six homers, 33 runs and 38 RBI.
