Soccer Travels to Nicholls State for In-state Matchup
THIBODAUX, La. — The LSU soccer team will face in-state foe Nicholls State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Nicholls State Soccer Field.
“This is going to be a big match for our team because we are playing a team from within the state and they are going to want this game bad,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos.
LSU is 17-0-2 against in-state competition since Fotopoulos’ arrival prior to the 2000 season, including a 3-0-1 mark this season.
The Tigers (9-7-1) will look to move to 5-0 all-time against the Colonels, whom LSU has never allowed to score a goal. The Tigers won the last meeting by a score of 9-0 on Sept. 15 in Baton Rouge, La.
LSU is coming off a tough weekend in conference play which saw the Tigers lose to both Alabama and Auburn on the road. The Tigers, currently 2-6 in Southeastern Conference action, will finish up the conference season on Halloween night versus Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Tigers will play host to cross-town rival Southern University on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex. The Tigers will honor six seniors that day in a post-game ceremony.
