KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The LSU women’s golf team came home in a tie for 10th place Tuesday at the end of the Mercedes-Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship which concluded at the Fox Den Country Club.

The Tigers shot a 309 for the second straight round to finish at 55-over par 919 (301-309-309). The Tigers tied with host Tennessee for the 10th spot in the field of 17. Ohio State held on to its one-shot lead after 36 holes to win by a shot over Oklahoma State as both teams posted eight-over 296 on the final day. Ohio State’s winning total was 20-over 884.

The LSU round was paced by the play of senior Isabel Dornellas who shot a very nice two-under round of 70 to move Dornellas up to a tie for 31st place in the final standings at 11-over 227 (79-78-70). On the final day, LSU counted a 76 from Brooke Shelton, a 79 from Alexis Rather and an 84 from Melissa Eaton.

The individual title of the tournament went to Allison Hanna of Ohio State who birdied the first playoff hole to beat out Arkansas’s Courtney Mahon. The duo had shot 54-hole scores of one-over 217 to force the playoff.

“We got off to another bad start and fought throughout the day to try to get back on track,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “I was very pleased to see (Dornellas) come through with a big-time round. We don’t have much time to regroup, but we will be ready to go again on Friday.”

LSU was scheduled to return home late Tuesday night and then after the players attended class on Wednesday, the Lady Tigers will leave for Greenville, S. C., for the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational, which runs Friday through Sunday.
