Soccer Announces Change for Regular Season Finale

BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will face a new opponent for its final home contest of the season, LSU head coach George Fotopoulos announced on Monday.

The Nov. 2 opponent was supposed to be Christian Brothers University, but due to a scheduling conflict, the Tigers will now face crosstown-rival Southern University at 2 p.m. as they honor six seniors on Senior Day. LSU will be playing Southern for the first time in school history.

The Tigers (9-5-1, 2-4 Southeastern Conference) will hit the road this weekend to face Alabama and Auburn and will then meet Arkansas on Oct. 31 in Fayetteville, Ark.

The match versus Southern is the final “Soccer Mom Sunday” in which finals from season-long qualifying to win an SUV will be held. Tickets will be available for all mothers for only $3 and the first 100 soccer moms will get an LSU Soccer key chain.
