Gymnastics to Visit Local Elementary School

BATON ROUGE, La. – In its continued effort to reach out and give back to the local community, the LSU gymnastics team is planning a visit to Dufrocq Elementary Friday afternoon before participating in Saturday morning’s Alzheimer’s Walk/Run at the state capital.

The Tigers will visit Dufrocq Elementary in support of the school’s Drug Free Rally to be held Friday at 1 p.m. The gymnasts will team with the Dufrocq students to create posters supporting a drug-free lifestyle.

The Tigers will follow that up with their participation in the Alzheimer’s Services Capital Area “Walk/Run to Remember.” The walk/run will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. just South of the Louisiana State Capital on the grounds of the state library.

LSU began fall practice Sept. 22, when it welcomed 12 returning letterwinners, as well as three freshmen to campus. The Tigers will continue training through the New Year before it opens the 2004 season Jan. 9 at Michigan State.

The Tigers 2004 schedule features six home meets and includes the NCAA Central Regional Championships to be held April 2 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
