Baseball to Hold Intra-squad Scrimmage
BATON ROUGE — The LSU baseball team will hold an intra-squad scrimmage at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Alex Box Stadium. The scrimmage is free of charge and open to the public, giving fans an early glimpse at the 2004 Tigers.
LSU, the defending Southeastern Conference champion, is in the final week of its four-week fall practice session. The Tigers return eight starting position players and seven pitchers from their 2003 club that advanced to the College World Series in the second year of coach Smoke Laval’s tenure.
LSU opens the 2004 season Feb. 13 at Central Florida.
The regularly-scheduled meeting of the LSU Baseball Coaches Committee will also take place on Tuesday, beginning at 6 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium.
Fans attending the scrimmage may acquire information about Coaches Committee memberships. The Coaches Committee has served as the baseball program’s fund-raising organization since 1983. Coaches Committee funds have assisted the athletic department in purchasing equipment and making numerous improvements to Alex Box Stadium.
Coaches Committee members participate in monthly meetings with the LSU players and coaches.
