Cross Country Runner Jimmy Wiggins Honored by the SEC
BATON ROUGE, La. – For the second time in three weeks LSU cross country runner Jimmy Wiggins has been recognized by the SEC office for his outstanding athletic accomplishments, earning conference athlete of the week honors.
Wiggins, a junior from Covington, La., recorded his third straight top-15 finish over the weekend, placing 12th out of 259 runners at the highly competitive Auburn Invitational. Wiggins paced all Tiger runners in the race turning in his second-best 8K time of the year (25:32.83).
Wiggins’ conference accolades mark the third for LSU, and the second for Wiggins this season, as he was also honored during the week of Sept. 29. Junior Katie Denton was also recognized by the league office that same week.
Both the LSU men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action this weekend when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Chile Pepper Invitational, Oct. 18.
