Soccer Ready to Complete First SEC Weekend
BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will complete its first conference weekend at home when the Tigers face the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex.
The match will be televised on a tape-delay basis by Cox Sports Television (Ch. 37 in Baton Rouge). The Tigers and Bulldogs will be meeting for the ninth time overall with LSU holding a commanding 6-2 advantage in the series. LSU won the last meeting by a score of 3-1 last year in Starkville, Miss.
LSU (7-4-1, 0-3 Southeastern Conference) is coming off a 3-0 loss to Ole Miss on Friday night in Baton Rouge. The Bulldogs (7-5-1, 1-2 SEC) fell to Arkansas 4-2 on Friday.
“This is a big match for us because obviously we need a win but also because Mississippi State is a good team and will be ready to play,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “We need to come out and play with some consistency and try to get a much-needed victory.”
The match will feature the POWERaDE Pep Rally, which will include a hi-energy spirit competition with cheerleaders and pom-poms.
