Men's Tennis Elminated From ITA All-American

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Tigers’ last remaining contenders for the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships were eliminated Friday in the second round of the tournament’s main draw. Bryan Fisher and Jason Hazley fell, 8-3, to Ludovic Walter and Jason Zimmerman of Duke.

Fisher and Hazley were ranked No. 7 in ITA’s fall preseason poll. They earned a bye to the tournament’s main draw, where they soundly beat their first opponents, 16th-ranked Michael Calkins and Conner Murnigham of Illinois. Zimmerman and Walter are ranked No. 20.

“We didn’t close out some games where we had the opportunities,” said LSU assistant coach Mark Booras. “We just didn’t play consistently enough today.”

Fisher, Hazley and the rest of the Tigers return to action next weekend in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Memphis, Tenn.
