Women's Tennis Concludes Play at the Hoosier Invitational
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The LSU women’s tennis team completed Indiana’s Hoosier Classic Invitational on Sunday with a big win by junior Amanda Mang to clinch the Flight A Championship.
Mang fell behind early but battled back to beat Victoria Domina of Eastern Michigan 0-6, 7-5, 1-0 (5). The tournament was Mang’s first of the fall season.
“That was quite a win,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “She fought back and competed pretty well.”
Marina Chiarelli was also competing in the finals her bracket. After dominating her first two opponents in Flight B, Chiarelli fell to Eastern Michigan’s Prapalphan Kensuthl, 6-3, 6-3.
“Marina lost to a good player,” Minnis said.
Daysi Espinal won the consolation finals of the Flight C bracket over Missouri’s Marry Barry, 6-1, 7-5. Bonnie White picked up a tough win over Louisville’s Page Eber, 0-4, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (6).
