Women's Tennis Wins Five of Seven in Bloomington
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The LSU women’s tennis team had its best day of t he fall season Friday with big wins in the University of Indiana’s Hoosier Classic Invitational. The Lady Tigers played seven singles and doubles matches and won five.
LSU’s Amanda Mang beat Kansas State’s Jessica Simosa, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the semifinals of the Flight A singles bracket. Marina Chiarelli beat Hana Kraftova of Missouri, 6-2, 7-5 in Flight B play.
Daysi Espinal lost her first match in the Flight C bracket to Indiana’s Laura McGaifigan, 7-5, 6-2. Espinal had a big day in Flight 2 doubles with partner Bonnie White. White and Espinal rolled to the finals of their bracket with an 8-1 win over Murray State’s Tami McQueen and Christina Hall and a 9-8 win over Missouri’s Kelly Crull and Lucie Ruskova.
Mang and Chiarelli won in the first round of the Flight 1 doubles bracket, 9-8 over Rachael and Anna Lask of Murray State. They lost their second match to Hayley McIver and Maria Rosenberg of Kansas State, 8-3.
The Lady Tigers will try to build on their success tomorrow with two semifinal matches and a doubles bracket championship.
