Women's Tennis Set to Play at Hoosier Invitational
Bloomington, Ind. — The Lady Tigers begin play Friday in the University of Indiana’s Hoosier Classic Invitational. The tournament features teams from Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Eastern Michigan and Kansas State.
Four of the Lady Tigers will make the trip. Junior Amanda Mang will make her fall debut in the tournament. She plays Kansas State’s Jessica Simosa at 10 a.m. in the first round of the A flight doubles. Daysi Espinal, Marina Chiarelli and Bonnie White will also compete.
“Daysi, Marina and Bonnie competed well last weekend,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “I’m hoping they continue to play hard this weekend.”
Chiarelli and Mang will team up in the Flight A doubles bracket and White and Espinal will play Flight B doubles.
Chiarelli picked up two singles and two doubles wins in last week’s Rice Classic Invitational. Espinal beat Lee University’s Medeja Egic and earned three doubles wins with partner Lauren Seaman. White advanced to the consolation finals of the C Flight bracket, where she lost to Texas-San Antonio’s Ana Paula Soto.
