Lady Tigers Third in Both AP and Coaches' Polls

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Lady Tigers basketball team remained the third-ranked team in the nation in the Associated Press poll and moved up to No. 3 in the ESPN/USA Today/Coaches poll.

The Lady Tigers are 3-0 this season after wins at Arizona and Southeastern Louisiana before defeating Florida Atlantic in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Monday night.

LSU received 870 points in the coaches’ poll and moved past Tennessee. Duke and Kansas State are one and two in the poll. The Lady Tigers received 989 points, including one first-place vote, in the AP poll. Duke and Kansas State are also one and two.

Eight of the Lady Tiger’s opponents are ranked in the AP top 25, while five others are receiving votes, including Arizona, whom LSU defeated in overtime to open the season last week.

The Lady Tigers visit Miami, Fla., this holiday weekend for the FIU/Miami Herald Thanksgiving Classic. LSU will face Washington State at 6 p.m. CST on Friday, while host Florida International and Virginia Tech, both receiving votes in the coaches’ poll, will play at 4 p.m. CST.
