Reed Named to Academic All-District First Team

BATON ROUGE — LSU offensive tackle Rodney Reed has been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District IV Football team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

Reed, a junior from West Monroe, La., has now been a first team all-district selection for two straight years. Last year, Reed earned second team academic all-America honors. He’s also a two-time member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Reed, who has started 30 consecutive games for the Tigers, has a 3.93 grade point average in accounting.

To be eligible for the team, players had to possess a 3.20 overall grade point average or better and have participated in at least 50 percent of their games. Players named to the first team will go on to appear on the nation ballot for academic all-America honors.
