Soccer Left Out of 2002 Women's College Cup

BATON ROUGE — Despite its 12-5-3 overall record and 3-1 record against teams in this season’s field, the LSU soccer team was left out of the 64-team NCAA Women’s College Cup, it was announced on ESPNEWS on Monday.

The Tigers had hopes of an at-large bid after defeating No. 1-seeded Auburn in the first round of last week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament, however, they were not included in the field that was expanded from 48 to 64 teams in 2001.

Earlier in the season, LSU defeated Women’s College Cup teams Ole Miss and Florida State.

The SEC will be represented by Auburn (which will face Central Florida on Nov. 15), Kentucky (vs. Cincinnati), Tennessee (vs. Furman) and Ole Miss (vs. Florida State).
