Ross Wins Flight A at Ragin' Cajun Classic
LAFAYETTE, La. — LSU’s Cory Ross earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Southern Miss’ David Canudas on Sunday to win the Flight A singles draw of the 2002 Ragin’ Cajun Tennis Classic held in Lafayette, La.
Ross, the Tigers’ junior from Littleton, Colo., notched four victories in three days during the Ragin’ Cajun Classic to improve his overall record on the season to 6-4. Ross accumulated wins over Louisiana-Lafayette’s Michael Tarkowski, Tulane’s Jorge Lievano and Mississippi State’s Max Fomine to reach Sunday’s championship match.
In doubles play, LSU’s tandem comprised of Ross and Brandon Nicholson won the consolation draw of the Ragin’ Cajun Doubles Classic with a 9-8 (5) victory over Southern Miss’ duo of Canudas and Carteret. The Tigers’ combination finished the three-day event with an overall record of 2-1.
