XC Teams Travel to SEC Championship

BATON ROUGE — LSU cross country will challenge the best in the SEC Monday as both the men’s and women’s teams head to Gainesville, Fla. for the 2002 SEC Championships.

The meet will be ran at the UF Golf Course with the men’s 8K race beginning at 8 a.m. and the women’s 6K race starting at 9 a.m.

LSU looks to improve upon last year’s showing at the conference championship as the Tigers placed seventh overall and the Lady Tigers finished eighth.

LSU will call on top runners Marian Burnett and Jarrett Roche to pace the Tiger squads. Burnett has been the Lady Tigers’ top finisher in each of the last two races and owns the team’s fastest 6K mark of the season, 22:12.89.

Roche has been solid for the Tigers all year finishing among the team’s top-three in three of LSU’s four meets.

Following the SEC Championships LSU will take nearly two weeks off to prepare for the NCAA Regional meet in Waco, Texas Nov. 16.
