BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive announced today that the Kentucky at LSU soccer match will not be rescheduled. The SEC match originally scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex was called due to inclement weather in Baton Rouge.
The match was called off by officials on Sunday citing heavy rain, a water-covered field and a forecast calling for continued thunderstorms with a 90 percent chance of rain in the area as the convincing factors in their decision.
The cancellation places even more emphasis on LSU’s SEC regular-season finale versus the Arkansas Lady ‘Backs on Sunday, Nov. 3. The Western Division rivals are fighting for the eighth and final spot in the SEC Tournament and an LSU win or tie would earn the Tigers a trip to the conference tournament in Oxford, Miss.
LSU and Arkansas will fight for the final spot in the 2002 SEC Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2:30 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex. The crucial match will be televised live on SEC-TV and is being billed as the School Daze Promotional Party where school-age kids will receive a free LSU sports pen and pencil set.
The LSU soccer team will next be in action on Friday, Nov. 1, as the Tigers host the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at 7 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex.
