Women's Golf Tied For Eighth After 1 Round in S.C.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The LSU women’s golf team posted its best round of the year to stand in a tie for eighth after the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course on Friday.

The Lady Tigers posted a first round of 19-over 307 good for a tie for eighth with Florida State and TCU. North Carolina and host Furman are first at seven-over 295, one shot over Tulane at 296.

LSU sophomore Brooke Shelton posted a one-over round of 73 and stands in a group tied for seventh place in a tournament led by Ashley Prange at two-under 70. LSU freshman Rebecca Struthers of Baton Rouge’s University High fired a four-over 76 in her first collegiate start and stands in a tie for 27th place.

For the day, LSU counted all four scores in the 70s as Devon Day and Isabel Dornellas both shot 79s to round out the counting total.

Tulane’s Carolin Landmann shot a one-under 71 to top the Wave scores on the first afternoon of the tournament that runs through Sunday.
