Mauck Undergoes Surgery, Out Eight Weeks
BATON ROUGE — LSU sophomore quarterback Matt Mauck underwent surgery on Sunday morning to repair a sprained ligament in the mid-foot area of his right foot, coach Nick Saban announced.
Mauck, who suffered the injury in a 36-7 win over Florida on Oct. 12, is expected to be out of action for eight weeks. The surgery was performed by LSU team doctors Brent Bankston and Larry Ferachi.
Bankston said the surgery went extremely well and said the procedure involved placing two screws in Mauck’s foot to stabilize the joint.
Mauck, a native of Jasper, Ind., started the first six games for the Tigers leading LSU to a 5-1 mark over that span. He completed 63-of-130 passes for 782 yard, nine touchdowns and only two interceptions. He also rushed for 175 yards and a pair of scores.
