Schexnayder Named 2003 Pan American Games Coach
INDIANAPOLIS — LSU track’s jump and multi-event coach Irving “Boo” Schexnayder was named Team USA’s power event coach for the 2003 Pan American Games it was announced by USA Track and Field.
In his eighth season with the Tigers, Schexnayder has established himself as one of the premier field event coaches in the nation. He has coached at least one national champion in six of his seven seasons with LSU and has had 49 athletes earn All-America honors under his tutelage.
In 2002 alone, Schexnayder produced three different national champions in Walter Davis (indoor and outdoor triple jump), Claston Bernard (decathlon) and Nicole Toney (indoor triple jump).
In addition to his impressive accomplishments on the track, Schexnayder has also authored several publications on jumping events and serves as the chairman of the National Coaching Education Curriculum.
The 2003 Pan American Games will be held August 3-10 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
