Parris, Francique Win Gold in Spain

SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain — Former LSU All-Americans Alleyne Francique and Debbie Parris each came away with gold at the San Sebastian Reebok Grand Prix Tuesday. Francique took home top honors in the 400 meters in his third straight meet, while Parris grabbed the meet’s top spot in the 400-meter hurdles.

Coming off a national record setting performance for his home country of Grenada just two days ago, Francique continued his dominance in the 400 winning the race with his second straight sub-45 second mark, 44.87. His time was enough to defeat Eric Milazar (MRI) and David Canal (ESP) who both crossed the finish line in 45.41 seconds.

Parris, a five-time NCAA champion while at LSU, cruised to a win in the women’s 400 hurdles, posting a time of 56.31. Parris’ mark outdistanced Argentina’s Cora Olivero (56.88) who finished second overall.
