BATON ROUGE — Former LSU swimmer Mandy Leach competed for her home country of Zimbabwe in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England, this past weekend.

Leach placed eighth in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:01.13, a personal best. Leach also finished 10th in the 100-meter freestyle with another personal best time of 56.89. She swam the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 2:03.51 to finish 12th.

Leach, a 2002 Honorable Mention All-American, finished her career as the school’s all-time record-holder in four different swimming events. She was a 2000 Olympian for Zimbabwe and was a three-time All-American in her career.

“Mandy really had a fabulous career for us and she did very well at the Commonwealth games,” said LSU head coach Jeff Cavana. “I am happy for Mandy to be able to compete at such a prestigious event like that.”
