Practice Heats Up As Opener Nears
BATON ROUGE — With only four days remaining until the 2000 season opening game against Division I-AA Western Carolina, the LSU football practiced for two hours at the LSU practice facility on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers spent the majority of the practice time working against Western Carolina’s “scout team” and implementing coach Nick Saban’s gameplan.
LSU will have two more full-contact practices on Wednesday and Thursday before a “light workout” on Friday.
Coach Saban comments in his Monday press conference that Brandon Winey (bruised fibula) is questionable for Saturday’s contest. Winey practiced with a red jersey on Tuesday. Saban also said that defensive lineman Kareem Mitchell was probable for the Sept. 2 contest. Mitchell practiced without a red jersey.
LSU will open the East Side Expansion on Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. to allow fans to purchase season and individual game tickets in the seats of their choice. Please click here for more information.
For the first time this season, Nick Saban’s hour-long weekly radio show will air on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., live from Serranos Salsa Company on Highland Road. To submit a question, send your e-mail question with the word “SABAN” as the subject line. Please make the questions brief.
