Football Returns to Practice After Scrimmage
BATON ROUGE — One day after its first scrimmage of the fall, the LSU football team continued its alternating 2-1-2 practice schedule with one 3 p.m. practice on Thursday at the LSU Practice Facility.
The Tigers practiced in the afternoon heat for two hours in full pads on Thursday and will return to the field Friday for its 14th and 15th sessions of the fall camp.
- After sitting out Wednesday’s scrimmage with a hamstring injury, QB Craig Nall returned to practice and was one of the leaders in team stretching exercises.
- Two Tigers, Dwayne Pierce (OG) and Bob Wynne (OG), attended Thursday’s practice but did not participate. Head coach Nick Saban said that Pierce “stretched” his knee” in Wednesday night’s scrimmage. Wynne’s injury was not specified.
- Melvin Richey (DT) and freshman Ernie Onyia (DE) swapped jersey numbers back to how they were in the spring. Richey wore No. 94 while Onyia doned No. 65. Reese Angelette (FB) switched from No. 36 to No. 41 (which was left vacant by LaBrandon Toefield –now 22 — in the spring and later by Rudy Johnson who left early in fall camp).
- The following players wore red jerseys in practice: Solomon Lee (knee), Fred Booker (hamstring), Terry Phillips and Kareem Mitchell.
