Volleyball Picked Third in SEC West

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The LSU volleyball team has been picked to finish the 2000 season in third place in the Southeastern Conference Western Division according to the coaches.

The Tigers tallied 37 points in the poll, five points behind Alabama which had 42 and 17 behind favorite Arkansas, which had 54 and has won the Western Division for for the past five years.

Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss rounded out the division.

In the Eastern Division, Florida was selected to as the heavy favorite, receiving 10 of 11 first-place votes. South Carolina, which received the other first-place vote was second. Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia were third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Overall, Florida is the clear favorite to win a 10th consecutive conference crown. The Gators picked up 10 first place votes with South Carolina receiving the other.
