Nine Tigers Complete Degree Work Over Summer
BATON ROUGE — Nine LSU student-athletes completed their course work and the requirements for their respective degrees during the just completed summer semester at LSU.
There is no commencement ceremony held on the campus during the summer.
The nine athletes included two football players, one tennis player, four track athletes, one from baseball and an athlete who played both softball and women?s basketball.
Included in the list of graduates for five-time All-American track sprinter Sa?Donna Thornton, a member of two NCAA Championship Track and Field Teams, and, Stacey Newton, the starting center fielder on the LSU softball team for four years. Newton, who also played women?s basketball for two years, was on four SEC Western Division and two SEC regular season championship teams. Newton and Thornton both completed their degree work in Kinesiology.

Basic Sciences: Jonathan Hurd, Tennis (Microbiology)
Business Administration: Mike Daly, Baseball (Marketing); Christian Nehme, Track and Field (Management Information Systems).
Education: Claude Eyamba, Track (Kinesiology); Estelle Hunter, Track (Kinesiology); Stacey Newton, Softball/Women?s Basketball (Kinesiology); Sa’Donna Thornton, Track (Kinesiology).
Engineering: Ryan Hebert, Football (Construction Management)
