Tiger Newcomers Go Through First Workout
BATON ROUGE — The LSU football team welcomed its 2000 freshmen class and invited walk-ons to the rigors of working out in the blazing heat of August in Louisiana, as the Tiger newcomers worked out Saturday morning for two hours at the LSU practice facility.
The Tigers worked out in shoulder pads and shorts and spent the early portion of practice working on individual drills before shifting to team drills midway through the workout.
“It was a good first practice,” said LSU head coach Nick Saban. “The players are having a lot of things thrown at them and they are doing a good job of picking it up. Overall, I’m very pleased with our first day of practice.”
The Tigers were scheduled to workout a second time on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday the Tiger newcomers will meet with the coaching staff and resume workouts on Monday with a pair of practices.
Returning lettermen report on Tuesday and the Tigers will have their first full squad workout on Thursday afternoon.
