In an effort to create a transformational culture rooted in our core values and as a part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, it is important that we provide our team members with an opportunity to engage in critical work to help explore perceptions and foster understanding. We aim to engage the athletics community in targeted initiatives to broaden and deepen their DEI journey, promote growth and understanding, and build capacity to ensure sustainability.

An Athletics Department graduate assistantship developed to provide students from diverse underrepresented backgrounds with an opportunity to gain experience in various fields within intercollegiate athletics with a goal of educating and preparing future athletics leaders to transition into professional roles.

Chew on This: Lunch and Learn Series

A series that provides LSU Athletics team members with an opportunity to engage in critical discussions to help explore perceptions and foster understanding. The goal of these sessions is to bring team members together in an informal atmosphere to foster personal and professional growth through collaboration and education.

Coffee and Conversations

A diversity, equity and inclusion initiative that centers building relationships. These conversations will create an opportunity to help you better understand your own thoughts and feelings, as well as the perception and perspective of others by engaging in targeted conversations.

Sweet Liberation Bake Sale

A bake sale fundraiser that supports the LGBTQ+ community and celebrates Pride Month.

Greater Because of Her

An event commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. Greater Because of Her celebrated 50 years of reshaping the landscape of higher education by honoring trailblazers and educating our community on the history and impact of the past five decades.

Wear Your Pride

A student-athlete driven tie dye event designed to acknowledge, support, and bring awareness to the LGBTQ+ community.

Geaux Day

A field day event open to members of the Baton Rouge community established to provide access and opportunity to underserved populations in the Baton Rouge area by offering participation in a series of modified sports on campus.

Junior Tigers Program

Brings youth-focused assemblies to schools and community centers around the state of Louisiana as a part of LSU Athletics’ priority to increase collaboration with campus and community partners and to affirm its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Hiring Manager Training

A mandatory training developed to formalize the hiring process and place diversity, equity and inclusion at the forefront of the process. This training covers topics including unconscious bias, job descriptions, network expansion, candidate pools, diversity advocates, and recruitment of candidates.

New Team Member Orientation

An orientation designed for new team members to gain an understanding and bring awareness to our departments foundation and inner workings.

Student-Athlete Study Abroad Program

The main goal of this innovative approach to study abroad is to implement global and in-state service-learning elements in their coursework. This approach integrates academic content, historical and cultural site visits, and collaboration with local nonprofits, to deliver excellence in student learning outcomes while also addressing the needs of host communities.

Commitment Month

The department offers a variety of diversity, equity and inclusion and Title IX educational and service opportunities to support personal and professional growth by engaging in critical conversations that elevate the voices and experiences of our staff and student-athletes.

Professional Excellence Program

A targeted effort to invest in the development of our staff by providing an opportunity to promote and practice leadership, self-awareness, inclusivity, and personal branding.

Emerging Leaders Program

Provides select team members with opportunities to acquire new skills that enhance their work foundation for career advancement and improve their social connection in the workplace through education, social gatherings, and community service.

Black Student Athlete Summit

The goal of the Summit is to empower Black Student-Athletes to maximize their college experience by killin’ it in the classroom and to not leave “any meat on the bone” in terms of opportunities.

Diverse Supplier Program

This program was created by the department in August of 2020 with a goal of identifying and increasing the departments spend with Louisiana’s minority-owned and women-owned businesses. Athletics has provided its employees with a list of local vendors as well as a list of diverse suppliers in Southeastern Conference campus cities to encourage the use of, spending with, and support of historically underutilized businesses.
